A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Welcome to Umami, a series of 10 puzzles that we thought up during a sleepless night of coding!!!

At its core, Umami was inspired by the idea of building machines out of machines. When you connect up the ingredient sources to a combinator, all of the parts shrink down and become part of a new machine! Be careful not to run out of conveyor belts, or you might find yourself stuck!

(Average playthrough takes ca. 15 minutes)

Large portions of this game's art are derived from pixel-boy's Ninja Adventure Asset Pack. You can check it out here! Additional art was done by Ætheryal and Tau. All music and sounds are by Ætheryal. The game is typeset in Renogare.

Umami was created as a submission to the 2024 GMTK Game Jam.

History

v1.1 - Fixed a bug where sources could be assimilated by combinators even if they weren't part of the recipe

v1.0 - Initial Release

Known Bugs

  • Linux build is missing the Umami.pck file. If you would like to play on Linux, download the Linux executable and the Windows build, which has the .pck file, and rename the .pck to Umami_Linux.pck
  • Conveyor belt layout is editable during shrinking animation.
